I love rustic in a modern touch! My imagination runs wild whenever I saw raw and unfinished objects. So it was my site visit afternoon when I saw this gorgeous looking cable pin spool at one of my project site, I knew I felt in love at the first sight!
At the same day, I asked my electrician if I can have it. The next few days, they delivered it to my office, I was so excited! So over the weekend, Daddy and Max helped me with this project.
Step 1: Smoothening the top surface
Daddy helped me knocked all the protruding nails edge and sand paper-ing any sharp, rough and uneven surface, with a little help from Handy Maxxi and his tools toys.
Step 2: Installing the castor wheels
We prefer it to be movable for easy positioning, plus to protect my flooring from the protruded bolts at the bottom surface. They're not so fancy castor wheels, just the one that we can find at DIY shop nearby for $2/each, cheap!
Step 3: Painting it in matt white oil based paint
This is the most fun part, as Max is always excited on painting activities. I have to go to special paints shop to find the matt white. You can get it at $14 for one liter can, it's more than enough. Don't forget to buy thinner/turpentine (only $2/bottle) for cleaning up. The after painting cleaning up was a bit hard, because it's oil based paint, and you know when you're painting with kid it's always a mess. But it was totally worth it!
Step 4: Enjoying the table
After waiting for a whole night until it completely dried up, we can finally enjoy the table. Max is the most enjoying it and kept saying "my table" and started to put his toys on it. Apparently the height is just nice for his size.
